Hey Girl Hey โ SMS Consent & Opt-In Information
Hey Girl Hey is a personal safety app for women.
Program Name
Hey Girl Hey Safety Alerts
Message Types
Emergency safety alerts sent to opted-in emergency contacts when an app user misses a scheduled check-in, when a safety timer expires without a response, or when a user triggers an emergency alert; plus a one-time welcome message confirming a contact's opt-in.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies. Emergency alerts are only sent in genuine safety situations โ when a check-in is missed or a timer expires without a response. Opt-in confirmations: 1 message per new emergency contact.
Who Receives SMS
Only emergency contacts who have completed our web opt-in form receive SMS. App users themselves receive push notifications, not text messages.
How Emergency Contacts Opt In (Web Opt-In via Email Invitation)
App users provide only their emergency contact's email address โ never their phone number. No SMS of any kind is sent to an emergency contact until they complete the opt-in form below.
- The contact receives an email invitation describing the SMS program: message types, expected frequency, "Message and data rates may apply," STOP/HELP instructions, and links to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Clicking "Yes, I Opt In to SMS Alerts" opens our secure opt-in page at heygirlhey.app/contact-optin, which repeats all of the above disclosures.
- The contact enters their own mobile phone number and taps the consent button. The date, time, and IP address of consent are recorded.
- A one-time welcome SMS confirms the opt-in. Only after this do they become an active emergency contact.
